01 / Strategic business development

Building a European business from the ground up.

The challenge

Establish a European travel offering and the operating capabilities needed to sell, service, and manage it.

My contribution

I built the Europe division with responsibility across product, operations, sales, service, finance, and air. My work connected the product offering with the people, information, and processes needed to support it.

  • Built the Europe division from zero until it was 80% of company revenue.
  • Built the European hotel product and its product architecture from the ground up.
  • Designed and resourced a richer travel product around the information independent travelers needed.
  • Established hotel selection criteria and property information standards that were adopted company-wide.

The outcome

A European division that grew from zero to 80% of company revenue, with Europe pages rated 4.7 out of 5 by more than 85,000 travelers, supported by hotel selection and information standards that extended across the company.

02 / Enterprise systems & adoption

Taking an ERP implementation through to adoption.

The challenge

Move an enterprise implementation forward after two earlier attempts had stalled, connecting the system to the way the business sold and operated its products.

My contribution

I led the business implementation from requirements through company-wide training. I also worked directly on data migration and configuration, bringing business understanding into the system itself.

  • Defined business requirements and connected the commercial model to the data and workflows.
  • Personally migrated data and configured the system.
  • Trained teams company-wide to use the system in their work.

The outcome

An implemented enterprise system supported by migrated data, business-aligned configuration, and company-wide training, with business ownership carried through to adoption.

Enterprise systems

03 / Strong teams & managers

Building teams that can own and lead the work.

The challenge

Build operating capacity across locations and develop the structure, knowledge, and leadership needed for people to take responsibility for the work.

My contribution

I built back offices in Paraguay, the Philippines, and Peru. I restructured teams around individual strengths and developed the practices that helped people take ownership.

  • Reorganized the global product team into development, maintenance, and content functions.
  • Created written procedures, reporting rhythms, and knowledge resources.
  • Developed leaders who went on to run major functions of the business.

The outcome

A team structure that remained in place after my departure, and leaders who took responsibility for major business functions.
